How to turn a YouTube video into karaoke
Copy the link.
Open the video on YouTube and copy the address from your browser, or press Share and copy the link.
Paste it into MyKaraoke Video.
There's no need to download the video or convert it to MP3 first.
Let the AI do the slow part.
It takes the vocals out of the mix, writes out the lyrics and lines up every word with the singing. Already have the exact lyrics? Paste them in instead. You can nudge any word in the sync editor.
Download the track or export the video.
Download the instrumental straight away, or pick fonts, colours and a background, preview it, and export an MP4.
Keep the music video behind the lyrics
When you start from a YouTube link, you can keep the original music video playing behind the words, so your karaoke version looks like the real thing. Prefer something else? Pick your own image, video or colour as the background instead.
Why paste a link
Nothing to download or install.
Some karaoke tools need a desktop app to import a link. Here it all happens in your browser, and the processing runs on our servers.
The backing track is free.
Downloading the instrumental or the vocals never uses credits, and the instrumental carries no watermark, even on a free account.
Long songs work too.
Credits are charged by the minute, so a longer video simply uses more.
Duets.
Each singer gets their own colour, so everyone knows when it's their turn.
Any language.
Paste lyrics in any language and script, with over 1,500 fonts to choose from. The AI can write out the lyrics for you in the languages on its list.
For karaoke hosts.
Export MP3+G for KJ software on Premium.

What a YouTube link costs
Sign up and get 30 free credits, one time, with no credit card. Credits are charged by the minute of song. A YouTube link uses 1 extra credit a minute compared with uploading the file yourself, and having the AI write out the lyrics costs the most. Paste your own lyrics, word for word, and 30 credits covers a typical song. Downloading the instrumental never uses credits. Videos made on free credits carry our watermark across the picture and export at up to 720p.
To remove the watermark or make more songs, buy credits as you go or subscribe. See pricing
YouTube to karaoke FAQ
Do I need to download the YouTube video first?
No. Paste the link and we get the audio from it for you. There's nothing to download, convert or install.
Can I keep the music video in the background?
Yes. When you start from a YouTube link, you can keep the original video playing behind the lyrics, or pick your own image, video or colour instead.
Does a YouTube link cost more than uploading a file?
Yes, 1 credit a minute more. If you already have the song as a file, upload it instead with our MP3 to karaoke tool to save credits.
How long can the video be?
Long videos work too. Credits are charged by the minute, so a longer video uses more credits.
Do I need the lyrics?
No. The AI writes them out from the song. If you have the exact lyrics, word for word, you can paste them instead, which uses fewer credits. You can fix any word in the sync editor.
Can I get the karaoke track as an audio file?
Yes. The backing track downloads as an M4A audio file, which plays on phones, computers and most music apps, and it never uses credits. For karaoke software that needs MP3+G, Premium exports it.
Can I post my karaoke video on YouTube?
You can use the videos you make, including commercially, as long as you have the rights to the song. A karaoke version of someone else's song still belongs to them, so check before you publish or monetise it.
